Fun Fact: each human on earth has ever lived in a uterus.
The uterus is one of the most incredible organs in the human body. It sheds and renews itself every month, preparing for new beginnings. It can nurture and grow a 2–4 kg baby, then heal and rebuild after birth. Some women even regain fertility within 6 weeks postpartum. Truly powerful.
Each menstrual cycle, the uterus releases blood and tissue, then regenerates a new lining. On average, women lose 30 to 80 ml of blood per cycle, which means about 15 to 30 mg of iron is lost every month. This blood loss is partly why 1 in 4 women are anemic. Anemia causes fatigue and reduces productivity.
Your body needs nutrients to rebuild, especially protein (for new cell growth) and iron (to replace what is lost in blood).
🥩 Protein and Iron-rich foods:
Lean meats, chicken, liver, fish, beans
🌿 Plant sources of iron:
Green leafy vegetables, beetroot, bugga, hibiscus calyx (roselle) and millet.
If you have a uterus, your body rebuilds itself every month. Please support it with nutrient rich food, rest, and self-care.
